Support Queer-normative spaces for LGBTQQ2SPIAA+ community building and healing!

In the face of current legislation and the threats of lessening rights, we need your support in creating Queer-normative spaces for LGBTQQ2SPIAA+ community building and healing. DNAWORKS is completing our adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s 1909 novella The Secret Sharer, an early Queer text, into a mixed-media performance work.

The Secret Sharer integrates dance, text, and music and is performed with audiences seated around the performers and co-creating the work. Extending our community storycircle practice, audience members share their own stories during the performance, interspersed at critical moments in the narrative. This ensemble work explores fragility, tenderness, and intimacy in times of personal duress and societal discrimination—the story of a silent, shared connection between two outsiders in the face of violence.

Thanks to your continued support, we are completing the developmental process with a residency in Pittsburgh in July 2024 and anticipate the premiere of the work in 2025 with a national tour to follow. We invite you to help us create spaces for resiliency and healing in response to the increase in bullying, hate crimes, and the visibility of LGBTQQ2SPIAA+ youth suicides worldwide.
